Tour from Pucon, Chile to Bariloche, Argentina. Daily activities include
hiking, biking, canyoning, rafting, fly fishing and visiting hot springs.
All stays are in hotels and cabins. There is a masseuse available
some of the evenings.

Arrival to Temuco airport via Santiago.
Fly into Temuco via Santiago, Chile. Meet your ATAC trip leader
at the airport where you will also meet other ATAC guests. Board
a private transfer two hours to the town of Pucon, set between Lago
Villarrica and the Villarrica Volcano. On the way, drive along Lake
Villarrica through the small town of Villarrica. Arrive at Pucon
and dine at Ecole.
Option 1: Climb Villarrica Volcano
Villarrica towers 8600.ft above the town of Pucon. Take a chairlift
to the top of the ski hill or begin hiking at the bottom of the
hill. Climb through snow and rock bands to the top of the volcano
to get views of neighboring volcanoes. If the weather permits, peer
down into the smoking crater and catch a glimpse of smoldering lava.
Option 2: Explore Pucon’s local hiking trails and
waterfalls
Wander the local trails of Pucon. Explore volcanic caves at the
base of Villarrica Volcano, tour water falls, learn the local flora
of the region.
Option 3: Flyfish in the Trancura river just ten
minutes from town (for beginners to experts). Either fish from shore,
or from boats at the delta of Lake Villarrica.
Eat
at the La Maga steakhouse in the evening and stay another night
in Pucon.
(Depending
on snow conditions on the volcano ascent, there is a possible hotsprings
soak at the Termas Geometricas in the evening for the whole group.)

Bike
Riding
Ride bikes to Lago Caburgua on back roads, stopping for lunch at
the Ojos de Caburgua.
Experience
Los Posones hotsprings in the evening before driving the final leg
of the journey to a cabin set on the border of Parque Nacional Huerquehue
and near Lake Tinquilco. Experience a healthy and hearty vegetarian
meal at the Tinquilco Lodge.

Hiking at Parque Nacional Huerquehue
Option 1:
On a six to eight hour journey, hike through Huerquehue. Stop at
Lake Verde for lunch and enjoy the majestic views at the water’s
edge. In Huerquehue, get to know the plants and trees of the region,
including the ancient Araucaria, a species that can grow to be 2000
years old. After lunch, split up from the rest of the group and
hike over passes and across the park to the Termas del Rio Blanco.
Option
2:
Hike with the group from Option 1 to Lago Verde. After splitting
up after lunch, hike a loop around the three lakes and back down
to the van. Drive the rest of the way on a scenic journey to the
Termas de Rio Blanco.
Meet
up and stay at the hotsprings in cabins. Feast on locally raised
lamb for dinner.

Rafting or Hiking
Option 1:
Raft and/or paddle inflatable duckies on a class II section of the
Maichin river through basalt gorges.
Option 2:
Day hike to Lake Escondido at the base of the dormant volcano Sollipulli.
Lunch at the lake, perched at the top of a butte.
Meet
up in the afternoon to drive the rest of the way to the Termas de
Panqui where we spend the night. Enjoy a vegetarian meal for dinner.
Relax in the hotsprings before retiring in your private room.

Cross Into Argentina
Option 1:
Day hike in the morning after breakfast or ride to Curarrehue where
we meet for a traditional sampling of Mapuche foods for lunch at
the Mapuche museum.
Option
2:
Canyoning for the ultra adventurous. Repel and jump waterfalls to
descend a small river gorge. Swim across deep pools with 100 ft
tall walls. (option availability dependant on river water levels.)
In
the afternoon, drive across the border to San Martin de Los Andes.
Explore the town and meet up in the evening at the Ku Steakhouse.

Hike and Lounge
Day hike along Arroyo Secreto and then enjoy a barbeque on Lago
Lacar, a perfect place for swimming and lounging.
In
the evening, return to San Martin. Dine in the restaurant of your
choice.

Raft or Flyfish the Meliquina
Option 1:
On the way to Bariloche, hop into rafts and inflatable
kayaks to float a class 1-2 section of river. In the afternoon,
board the vans and continue to Bariloche via Paso Cordoba.
Option 2:
Learn basic fly fishing, or fish on your own along the shores of
Meliquina. In the afternoon, meet up with the rest of the group
on the way to Bariloche.
Dine
at Alberto’s in Bariloche.

Hike Tronador
Option 1:
In the morning, get up early for an adventure on Mount Tronador,
the largest mountain in the area. Spend the whole day hiking in
view of rivers, glaciers and granite.
Option 2:
Explore the Llao Llao peninsula just 25 km from the center of Bariloche.
Hike, wander and/or sip drinks and enjoy the Llao Llao café’s
expansive views over Lago Nahuel Huapi.
Option 3:
Raft the class III upper section of the Rio Manso to the border
of Chile

Fly home via Buenos Aires, Argentina or Santiago, Chile.
Optional
Trip Extensions:
Arrive two days early to Santiago and explore the coastal town of
Valparaiso (2 hours from Santiago) as well as the famous wine country
of Chile’s Central Valley (2 hours from Santiago).
