Manso Multisport Rafting
The
following equipment list covers all of the adventure travel activities
for the Adventure Tour Manso expedition: white water rafting, horseback
riding, hiking and fly fishing. It is only necessary to bring the items
for sports that you would like to participate in. Because each day requires
some travel between camps, one must at least be prepared for the adventure
of hiking and/or horseback trail riding. Keep in mind that your clothes
will most likely get dirty. |

Fly fishing Gear: If you already fly-fish, or plan to fly fish every day, it is recommended that you bring your own rod, waders, boots and vest. We recommend a six weight rod. Keep in mind, we have extra fly fishing rods and equipment. If you have questions regarding fly fishing equipment and purchases, please contact us. Valuables: Leave them at home! We recommend that you put essential items (wallet, credit cards, traveler's checks) in small waterproof baggies (Ziplocks) and store them in the bottom of your personal waterproof bag with your clothing. Store exposed film and medications in small waterproof baggies (Ziplocks) and roll in your clothing - then pack in your personal waterproof bag. You may want some cash on you for emergencies or gratuities. Beverages: Alcoholic beverages are supplied (beer, wine and pisco) though if you would like to bring a hard alcohol treat, please bring it in a plastic container - NOT GLASS.
Items to keep in your fanny pack / day pack while hiking
or horseback riding: Hiking and Horseback Riding: Depending on the trail and weather conditions, plan for up to 6 hours of travel on uneven muddy terrain with loose footing and exposure to the elements. Hikes are on non-maintained wilderness trails that cross streams and pools of water. Plan for your shoes to get wet. We recommend a well-built hiking shoe with good arch support and substantial traction. If you prefer more ankle support, then bring lightweight synthetic or leather hiking boots. Shoes providing ankle support are required for horseback riding. White water rafting: Footwear must be worn on the boats at all times. Neoprene booties with tread work well. Neoprene socks with tennis shoes are another option. Recreational sport sandals work well on the boats as well as in camp. They allow your feet to dry quickly and provide warmth when used with polypropylene or wool socks. Choose your shoe according to your personal preference. Aqua socks are NOT recommended. Fly-fishing:
Boots and waders are ideal for fly fishing, though neoprene booties and
a wetsuit normally used for white water rafting also work well. When purchasing a sport sandal pay particular attention to the fit, how much support it offers, the quality of the fastenings and how well the straps are secured to the sole. Sand and water tends to work against velcro closures. Cheaper sport sandals commonly fall apart. Be sure to allow proper break-in time. Note: If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. |
